Welcome

We are a group of Orthodox Christians from various jurisdictions who meet together to pray for each other and all.

We live mainly in the Sheffield region of the United Kingdom. However, we also meet online to both pray and discuss the Orthodox Christian faith and how to live it today. This website contains resources for this and you are welcome to use them. Start by visiting the Prayer Book

As we meet online, you are also welcome to join us regardless of location. Prayer requests are also accepted, unworthy as our prayers are. For more information, Contact us

For the sake of clarity, this page is set up by Deacon Jonathan (Cowley), officially attached to the Parish of St Anne's in Northampton, but day-to-day serving in St David's parish in Derby

Our Patron Saints - Silouan and Sophrony

Silouan was a Russian peasant who became a monk on Mount Athos in 1892. Though uneducated, he spent the rest of his life in constant prayer, coming to a deep understanding of God, Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit. He died in 1938.

Sophrony was an artist who lived and studied in Paris before also going to Mount Athos in 1926. There he learned directly from Elder Silouan and helped spread his teaching into Western Europe. In 1958, he established a monastery in Essex, UK, where he wrote extensively. He died in 1993 and his tomb can be visited today.

These two "modern" Saints, living through the monumental wars, pandemics and revolutions of the 20th century, can speak to us even now, and guide us in living the Orthodox Way today.
